Norman Espinoza

Carmello Tringali, tenor sings the role of Monsieur Triquet in Yevgeny Onegin and the solo tenor in the peasant chorus. He is also the understudy for Lensky. He made his West Bay Opera debut earlier this season, singing Borsa in Rigoletto. Recent performances include Dr. Schrinck in Menotti's The Boy Who Grew Too Fast with Golden Gate Opera; Don Ottavio(Don Giovanni) with Bay Shore Lyric Opera; and Faust (Faust-Gounod) with Verismo Opera. He has also sung Rodolfo (La bohème) and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) with Verismo. Other favorite roles include Candide with Douglas Morrison Theatre, Hylas (Les Troyens) with the Kent Nagano Project, Teapot/Frog in Ravel's L'enfant et les sortileges with Redwood Symphony and Mengone in Haydn's Lo Speziale with Bay Area Opera Collaborative. Mr. Tringali is a versatile performer and Bay Area native. Mostly active as a singer, he is also an actor. As an aspiring music and drama therapist, he daily involves himself in emotional, psychological and spiritual exploration. He has performed a wide variety of roles in different musical styles.
Mr. Espinoza is excited to take part in the Opera San José Summer Training Program. He has been performing with Bay Shore Lyric Opera, Verismo Opera, Opera San José and San Jose State Opera Theater. His future engagements are with Verismo Opera as Ferrando in Il trovatore and with BSLO and Dr. Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro. Mr. Espinoza is also involved with the Opera San José K-12 Outreach production of Il Barbiere Di Siviglia as Dr. Bartolo. Recent roles include Simone in Gianni Schicchi, Sam and Tom in Un ballo in maschera, Montano and Lodovico in Verdi’s Otello, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, and King Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from San Jose State University.

Breathtaking, passionate, inspiring opera for the community

​Michelle Montoya, mezzo-soprano, has been singing classically for over ten years. She was a member of the internationally renowned Main Street Singers at Los Altos High School, then went on to receive her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Chapman University. During her time at Chapman she was a member of University Choir, University Singers and Opera Chapman, where she performed in opera scenes programs including Le nozze di Figaro, Die Fledermaus and Les Contes d’Hoffmann, and was featured as a soloist in many major choral works. Amongst her roles in fully staged operas are La Zia Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Cecily in Pasatieri’s La Divina. In the Bay Area, Miss Montoya has performed in several productions as a chorus member with West Bay Opera including Turandot, Dido and Aeneas, La vida breve and Les Contes d’Hoffmann. She can be seen in Verismo Opera’s 2013 production of Wagner’s Die Walküre as Schwertleite.
